At Fivemile Hill, we imagine and build the home of the future. It is a healthy and resilient home where we live in harmony with nature and create unforgettable experiences.

Our goal is to lead a meaningful life rich in nature, beauty, taste, and authentic culture. We strive to restore biodiversity at home and become more independent.

We are a designer-engineer couple living in the Texas Hill Country. Tom is from Germany and Aurélie is French-Indonesian.

On this subscription website, we offer courses on gourmet home cuisine, nature at home, and healthy and resilient systems.

GOURMET HOME CUISINE

Fivemile Hill cuisine is a gourmet home cuisine using wood fire and natural heirloom ingredients, fit for the Texas Hill Country, inspired by tropical, Asian, and Mediterranean traditions. It fits a balanced, varied, plant-rich diet supporting human and planet health.

NATURE AT HOME

The Fivemile Hill home is a living space shared by humans, wildlife, and native plants. Infrastructure and buildings blend seamlessly with the surrounding nature and provide ecological benefits, such as water features for birds and pollinators, or wildlife-friendly outdoor lighting.

HEALTHY AND RESILIENT SYSTEMS

Fivemile Hill systems create a home where water/energy efficiency and resilience go together with better health, comfort, and performance. Benefits include clean air, soft water, Internet/Wifi that works in metal and concrete buildings, and reliable home office IT.

WHO WE ARE

We are a multicultural family living in the Texas Hill Country. Tom is an engineer, originally from Germany. Aurélie is a designer, originally French-Indonesian.

We have a house in San Antonio that we renovated ourselves in a modern European style, with a contemplative nature garden and water feature for suburban wildlife.

We also have a 21-acre land near Bandera where we are working to restore a native ecosystem and create a sanctuary for wild birds and pollinators, and where we plan to live and host workshops.

While we provide some information for free, most of this website is accessible to members only.

The annual membership fee of $40 makes it possible to offer an ad-free, tranquil, and trustworthy experience.

We respect your privacy. We don't track what you do. We collect the minimum information to manage subscriptions and don't share or resell any personal data.

All content is created by us (Tom & Aurélie). We write every word and take every photo ourselves. We don't use AI.

We donate 10% of our revenue to non-profit organizations who support nature and wildlife conservation.
